Expert Advice. Clients will pay for expert advice. Fees become a ‘thing of the past’. Experts get to work with the clients they want.
Bold statements aren’t they? True though.
So what can you do to ensure you are seen as the expert in your chosen field of advice? There are many things and today I’d like to share just one of those.
Buyers (you, me and everyone else!) correlate information, articles, video’s, case studies, testimonials & social media activity with trust, credibility and leadership.
Another bold statement but think about yourself. If you are looking for a solution to a problem and you are comparing two businesses that have been recommended to you, it’s extremely likely that the one that has a professional profile, is positioned as the expert and has content to support what it is that they claim, will get the first phone call.
We perceive experts as the people who regularly speak and write about their chosen field. Experts appear everywhere their ideal client is. They develop expert information about how to solve problems, get interviewed by others resulting in people assuming that what they have to say must be valuable so they listen (and in most cases it is valuable!).
How can you step up to be seen as an expert?
1. Find out where your ideal clients hang out, what do they read, what groups etc do they belong to?
2. Brainstorm article titles/topics that you can write about or, source content about.
3. Read, read and read all the books you can possibly find on the subject and form your own opinions – note them down.
4. Get your articles published in as many places as is appropriate – where your ideal client is
When you publish, clients will see you as the expert. You can’t fake this – you do need to be an expert in something before you go and position yourself as an expert!
