I love reading, fiction, non fiction, you name it I love it! I spend literally hundreds of dollars on books each year but today I picked up an old faithful and had a flick through, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey, an excellent read at any time. What took my fancy this time was habit number 4 – WIN/WIN and specifically his comments:
“So often the problem is in the system, not in the people. If you put good people in bad systems, you get bad results. You have to water the flowers you want to grow.”
So much is talked about at the moment around systems, business effectiveness and I thought what a great statement Covey makes. If you don’t have a good marketing system in place, you can’t blame the team you have for not getting the right type of clients into your business.
Answer the following questions to help you determine if you have the right marketing system in place to support you and your business attract & retain the right clients, if you haven’t, who can help you change it? (Me of course!)
1. Up to date modernized website
2. Written social media strategy
3. Rock solid referral partnerships
4. Effective, relevant and regular client communications
5. Results in advance
6. Educational based marketing content
7. Service orientated segmentation
8. Local area and joint venture marketing activates
9. Client education
10.Automated marketing systems
Marketing isn’t an adhoc activity you take when the revenue is down, it’s a constant activity and when you create a marketing system, it won’t let you and your team down.
