How to Create Your Content Calendar

How to Create Your Content Calendar

Did you know that buyers correlate information, articles, video’s, case studies, testimonials & social media activity with trust, credibility and leadership?

It’s one of the reasons why content marketing has grown so quickly over recent times causing many to stress and question their own marketing strategy – you didn’t start your Financial Advice business wanting to be an author right?!

Well, like it or not, we now all have the opportunity to serve our target markets far better than we ever did before and genuinely help them solve their problems. It’s no wonder I often get asked, “How do I know what to write and when?” I don’t believe in making things difficult, complexity creates overwhelm and I’m more interested in taking action and getting results! With that in mind, I’d like to share with you, how you can create your editorial calendar so your world is simple and effective too.

  1. What would you like to talk about/share about/teach about?
  2. What would you like to emphasize?
  3. What do you stand for?
  4. What difference would you like to make to your audience?
  5. What would you like to shine the light on?
  6. What does your ideal client want/need to know about?
  7. What would your ideal client share?

Brainstorm at least 40 topics that you can think of that relate to you, what you know and what your ideal client would like to know about too. Don’t think too much just write down as many as you can – don’t critique them just yet!

Once you’ve given yourself enough time; this may take longer than a day depending on your schedule, then trusting your gut instinct go ahead and circle those that you believe will really get your audience excited and sharing. Will those topics delight and add value?

Remember you don’t need to write everything, it could be in the form of a podcast, video, image etc. Just get the topics down.

Now decide who will create the actual content.

  1. Will it be you?
  2. Will you get the content from a third party?
  3. Does your Licensee have the content?
  4. Does a product provider have the content?

Next determine your publishing schedule. Daily, weekly, monthly? Remembering that the longer you stay away, the easier your value is forgotten and potentially replaced by someone else.

You’ve now created your editorial calendar filled with relevant, useful information that adds value, positions you and opens up a new world of referrals for you.

If you found this post interesting, please feel to share it with your connections, thank you.

I would highly recommend Rachel within the Financial Services industry as she understands what it takes to succeed in this very niche industry.
